Character Glossary

(In order of appearance in Mark of Odin: The Awakening)

Luis Odén: He is a young university student who is finishing his studies as an aerospace engineer and has been selected to participate in the ambitious Hermes project. You could say that his life is perfect, except for the terrible dreams that torment him every night. His parents are Guillermo Odén and Isabel Reina, and his brother is called Tristán.

Marta Rodríguez: She is Luis’s lover. Although they do not have a formal relationship, she insists on acting as if Luis were hers alone.

Eva Gálvez: she is Luis’s best friend from university, they share a great bond and form the best work team in his promotion. She is also one of the students selected to participate in the Hermes project. Originally from a town in Córdoba, after the death of her father, she moved with her mother to Seville.

Clara García: Aerospace engineering student and selected to participate in the Hermes project. She is part of Luis’s group of friends.

Sandra Ramírez: Aerospace engineering student and selected to participate in the Hermes project. She is part of Luis’s group of friends.

Lucas Valle: Aerospace engineering student and selected to participate in the Hermes project. He is part of Luis’s group of friends.

Roberto Guzmán: Aerospace engineering student and selected to participate in the Hermes project.

Santiago Peñas: Aerospace engineering student and selected to participate in the Hermes project.

Jorge Fernández: Aerospace engineering student and selected to participate in the Hermes project.

Manuel Alonso: President of Spain. Alfonso Galiano: Professor of Aeronautics and Space Vehicles at the Higher School of Engineering of Seville and consultant at the European Aerospace Complex. He is Luis’s tutor and the architect of his students being able to participate in the Hermes project.

Álvaro López: Aerospace engineering student.

William Murdock: Commander in Chief of the United States Air Base Groom Lake.

Jack Preston:  Lieutenant Colonel, United States Air Force. He is considered the USAF’s best air ace. He is in charge of testing the X-56 Fenix at Groom Lake. He is divorced from his wife, Jennifer Heldon, with whom he has a daughter, Samantha Preston, whom he calls “Samy.”

Derek Chapman: Captain, United States Air Force. He is Jack Preston’s best friend and right-hand man in the Phoenix project. He is married to Estella Chapman, with whom he has two sons, Jack and Eddie.

Clark Henderson: Executive of Space-Combat Ventures and responsible for the development of the X-56 Phoenix.

Kira Takeda: Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Of Japanese origin, she moved with her uncles to North America after her parents died in a tragic fire. She was the first pilot in her class at the Air Force Academy and is Jack Preston’s big signing for the Phoenix project.

Robert P. Giles: Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. He has the rank of general. He is the main promoter of the Fénix project and a personal friend of Jack Preston.

George Drayton: Secretary to General Robert P. Giles.

James Curtis: Lieutenant, United States Air Force. He is part of the X-56 Fénix test team.

John Casper: United States Congressman. He leads a pressure group that wants to cancel the Phoenix project.

Guillermo Odén: He is Luis’s father. Colonel of the Spanish Air Force, retired with honors. He is the main person responsible for Luis becoming an elite parachutist.

Isabel Reina: She is Luis’s mother. She teaches English philology at the University of Seville. She has always made an effort to ensure that her children took the path of science and not the military. Tristán Odén: He is Luis’s little brother. He is very attached to him, which is why he does not take well that his brother has become independent. He loves music and his biggest dream is to be part of a rock group.

Lara Sánchez: Public Relations of the European Aerospace Center.

Jonas Lander: American aerospace engineer with the reputation of being one of the most prestigious in the world.

Albert Heissenberg: German physicist considered one of the main promoters of modern physics. Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006, he was considered a very introverted person who avoided all contact with the media.

Ángela Vidal: Coordinator of the Flight Interface department of the Hermes project at the European Aerospace Center.

Alabaster Steinwall: Head of the Flight Interface department of the Hermes project at the European Aerospace Center. Creator of the famous ‘Sharefilia’ application and one of the best computer programmers in the world.

Jean-Luc Verheyde: Head of biomechanical interaction in the Flight Interface department of the Hermes project at the European Aerospace Centre.

David Rojas: Flight engineer in the Flight Interface department of the Hermes project at the European Aerospace Center.

Rubén Costa: Computer engineer in the Flight Interface department of the Hermes project at the European Aerospace Center.

Juan Aguilera: Commander of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the ALA 11 of the Spanish Air Force. He is known as the ‘Lynx’. He is a personal friend of Guillermo Odén, having served under him, as well as Derek Chapman and Jack Preston. Enrique Esteve: Captain of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the ALA 11 of the Spanish Air Force. He is known by the nickname ‘Black Wolf’. David Aguilar: Captain of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the ALA 11 of the Spanish Air Force. He is known by the nickname ‘Toro’.

Rafael Torres: Lieutenant of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the ALA 11 of the Spanish Air Force. He is known by the nickname ‘Hammer’.

Jaime Herrero: Lieutenant of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the ALA 11 of the Spanish Air Force. He is known by the nickname ‘Coyote’.

María Velasco: Lieutenant of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the ALA 11 of the Spanish Air Force. He is known by the nickname ‘Navaja’.

Pedro Núñez: Lieutenant of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the ALA 11 of the Spanish Air Force. He is known by the nickname ‘Torre’.

Ángel Serra: Chief Mechanic of the ‘Diablos de Hispania’ squadron of the 11th ALA of the Spanish Air Force. He is known by the nickname ‘Boss’.

Diego Echevarría: Brigadier General of the Spanish Air Force. He is in command of the Morón air base.

Francisco Delgado: Secretary of Brigadier General Diego Echevarría. Daniel Hidalgo: Colonel of the Spanish Air Force. He is in command of ALA 11 and was Guillermo Odén’s replacement when he retired.

Raquel Martínez: She is Luis’s best friend from school. Every year she is in charge of organizing his birthday. Her boyfriend is Miguel Vázquez, Luis’s childhood friend as well.

Miguel Vázquez: Childhood friend of Luis and boyfriend of Raquel Martínez.

Javier Rodríguez: Luis’s childhood friend.

Julián Moreno: Luis’s childhood friend.

Andrés Pérez: Luis’s childhood friend.

Sara Romero: Luis’s childhood friend.

Laura González: Luis’s childhood friend.

Enrique Ramos: Director of the Seville skydiving club and Luis’s mentor in that sport.

Pablo Ríos: Parachutist from the Seville skydiving club. He is replaced by Jack Preston at the Columbus Day display.

Gerardo Leal: Captain of the Spanish Air Force. In charge of coordinating the Columbus Day parachute exercise.

Edgard Grant: Vice President of the United States.

María Luces: Reporter for the state news channel. She covers news of events and happenings in Seville.

Carlos Domínguez: Television cameraman who always accompanies María Luces.

Elliot Powell: President of the United States of America. Carlos Casas: Doctor at the Virgen del Rocío hospital in Seville.

Charles Bradway: Science teacher at Bend Senior High School in Bend, Oregon, United States. He is a great fan of astronomy and belongs to the Astronomical Society of Friends of NASA. George Patson: Coordinator of the Astronomical Society of Friends of NASA at NASA.

Jordi Bellvitge: Head of the electromagnetic catapult department of the Hermes project at the Andalusian Aerospace Center. He is one of the world’s leading experts in electromagnetic fields.

Dan Edwards: United States Air Force Lieutenant, 22nd Special Operations Squadron, United Functional Space Component Command, Vanderberg Air Force Base, United States.

Paul Jackson: Commander of the 22nd Special Operations Squadron at the United Functional Component Command for Space, Vanderberg Air Force Base, United States.

Michael Roberts: United States Air Force Captain, 22nd Special Operations Squadron, United Functional Space Component Command, Vanderberg Air Force Base, United States.

John Ellis: NASA astronaut and commander of the International Space Station.

Klaus Steiner: Captain of the German Luftwaffe. Specialist in the operation of aerial drones.

Ramón Ballesteros: Minister of Defense of Spain.

Carlos García: Captain of the Spanish Air Force and F-18 pilot from Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base, Madrid.

Francisco Campos: Captain of the Spanish Air Force and F-18 pilot from Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base, Madrid.

Ricardo Gómez: Chief of the General Staff of the Spanish Armed Forces, has the rank of lieutenant general.

Adolfo de Montalvo: Admiral of the Spanish Navy, commanding the Juan Carlos I.

Rafael Ramírez: Ship lieutenant in the Spanish Navy, artillery officer on the Juan Carlos I.

Gruknurk: Mind flayer Hekkar. Freya: Valkyrie of the Order of the Valkyries.

Rista: Valkyrie of the Order of the Valkyries. Mista’s twin sister.

Mista: Valkyrie of the Order of the Valkyries. Rista’s twin sister.

Ana Fernández: Head of production of the state news channel.

Sifrida: Valkyrie of the Order of the Valkyries.

Brunnhilde: Captain of Valhalla. She is one of the leaders of the Order of the Valkyries.

Baldur: Commander of the Einherjar of the Order of the Valkyries.

Alexandra: Valkyrie of the Order of the Valkyries.

Eskandal: She is the chief engineer of Valhalla. She is part of the Order of the Valkyries.

Fruor: Navigator of Valhalla. He is part of the Order of the Valkyries.

Miguel Santos: General of the Spanish Army. In command of the ‘Guzmán el Bueno’ Mechanized Infantry Brigade, quartered in Cerro Muriano, Córdoba.
