Descripción

Alfonso Galiano was only three years old when an image marked him forever. He was on the couch in his house, next to his parents, gawking, unable to take his eyes off the old black and white television they had at the time. It showed astronaut Neil Armstrong descending from Apollo XI and touching down on the Moon. That vision fascinated him so much that from then on he could only dream in space, become an astronaut and build spaceships that would travel the entire universe…

The years passed and although the dream of becoming an astronaut became impossible, Alfonso focused his passion for that vital need on the space race. A first-class student, he stood out from his first years at school and upon reaching university he focused on aerospace engineering. His enthusiasm and aptitudes earned him a scholarship to study at MIT in the United States, alongside the pioneers of space engineering at NASA.

After making a great name and reputation in the United States, Alfonso Galiano returned to Spain to combine his family life, after marrying, with his professional life. He began teaching at the Higher School of Engineering of Seville while participating in different projects of the European Space Agency.

Three years ago he was hired as a principal consultant by the large European aerospace consortium responsible for the construction of the European Aerospace Center. After the inauguration of its facilities, Alfonso Galiano began to support the innovative Hermes project in the hope of seeing his dream of designing a new generation of space shuttles come true.

NOW

Recently, Alfonso Galiano has been lobbying the board of directors of the European Aerospace Center to admit several of his best students in a new internship program. Taking advantage of the Spanish government’s new plan to encourage the best university minds to enter the most cutting-edge projects, Alfonso is convinced that some of his students can make a difference within the Hermes project…
